20 April: Meet the VC With International Staff

SERDANG, 20 April. Putra International Center (i-PUTRA), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has conducted a Meet The VC, a program with the vice chancellor, with International Staffs who works in UPM. This serve as two-way sharing platform between the top management of our university with the international staffs. The two-hour program was held at the Multipurpose Hall, Center of Advancement and Language COmpetence, UPM.

This program is the first of its kind to be held. This program serve as an initiative to gather international staff of UPM and further strengthen relationships among themselves as well as the university management and i-PUTRA especially

i-PUTRA thanked UPM Vice-Chancellor, Yang Berbahagia Professor Datin Paduka Dato 'Dr. Aini Ideris and Professor Dato 'Dr. Husaini Omar, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) on their willingness to attend the program. Also present were Director of i-PUTRA, Associate Professor Dr. Zelina Zaiton Ibrahim and Deputy Director of i-PUTRA, Associate Professor. Noritah Omar.

A total of 61 international staff attended the program .The casual atmosphere of the program, high tea, allows them to interact in a friendly and conducive manner. Dr Naser Sarli, representing international staff of UPM, welcomed this kind of program that allowed them to meet, not only their fellow expats but also the top management UPM. He urged his colleagues to take this opportunity to meet and talk to the Vice-Chancellor and other honorary guests.

The program is also one form of appreciation towards the international staffs for thier contribution to the internationalization of UPM. Cited, the Vice Chancellor in her speech relay her thanks towards the international community in UPM and higlighted their importance to the overall growth of UPM. She also hoped to see more integration and interaction between the local and international community in UPM.

The International Community Support Services Section which was established on March 2018 was established in line with the current needs of i-PUTRA was introduced to the audience. This section is responsible for assisting international students in providing information and information on student affairs, planning and organizing activities with the international community, managing guest homes, activities and programs as well as managing customers’ feedback.
