SERDANG, December 5. Putra International Centre (i-PUTRA), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has received an official delegation visit from Ehime University, Japan today, to discuss cooperation opportunities with UPM.
The visit was led by Prof. Ruth Vergin, Associate Director of Ehime University. He strongly encouraged Ehime University students to undergo mobility programme and reseach attachment at UPM.
"Most students from Ehime University have been studying English language courses at UPM for one to two semesters. It has attracted them to continue their UPM mobility program in their respective fields after successfully improving their English language proficiency, "he said.
He also introduced a new programme that will be introduced to international postgraduate students while pursuing their studies at Ehime University. Students are encouraged to take classes leading to business fields and so on as one of the preparatory steps to widen their career in Japan.
Deputy Director of i-PUTRA UPM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zelina Zaiton Ibrahim, hopes that more students from the land of the rising sun will benefit from this MOU initiative.
"I believe, with the cooperation between UPM and Ehime University, not only the number of inbound students increases but also more UPM students attracted to do outbound at Ehime University," he said.
It is hoped that this MOU collaboration will attract more students from both institutions to undergo mobility programme and also other internationalisation programme.
