UPM Serdang, 22 June: Putra International Centre (i-PUTRA) played host to visitors from Asia University (AU), Taiwan, here, today. The delegates from AU included the Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Yinghuei Chen, who is also the Dean of the International College and the Director General for the Centre for the Development of Language Teaching and Research, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Thomas Choong Shean Yaw, who is a professor with the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering. The visitors were received by the Deputy Director of i-PUTRA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noritah Omar, and the Head of the Global Engagement Section, Ms. Ida Suhaila Md. Tahir.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss potential collaboration between UPM and AU in the forms of faculty and student global mobility programmes and joint research and internship programmes.
AU is currently the no. 1 private university in Taiwan, with six colleges, 22 departments, 25 Master’s programmes, five PhD programmes, and10 English-taught programmes designed for some 450 international students. The university has around 400 faculty members and 13,000 students (including Master’s and PhD students).
AU has previously collaborated with the University of Malaya, and is now seeking to establish an academic partnership with UPM.
