31 Oktober 2019 : International Students @ Sabah

KOTA KINABALU, SABAH, 31 October 2019. Putra International Center (i-PUTRA), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has conducted a visit to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah from October 31, 2019 to November 03, 2019. The visit was attended by 4 students international and 2 Officer from i-PUTRA.

The objective of the trip aims to expose the international students to the ethnic, tribal and cultural life in Borneo which has its own uniqueness. The tour is also aimed at promoting Malaysia and Sabah, especially to foreign tourists.

    

On the first day, participants gathered at i-PUTRA around 5.00 am to before departing to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) with i-PUTRA officials. The 2-hour and 30-minute flight is worth considering when looking at the beauty of the morning in Sabah from above.

Upon arriving at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport Sabah, the participants were treated to the beauty and uniqueness en route to the first destination on the trip, Ranau. Upon their arrival to Ranau, the students were treated to a delicious lunch and before they were taken to several attractions such as Rumah Terbalik (Upside Down House), Tamparuli suspension bridge, Nabalu market, and farmers market before returning to the hotel in Kundasang. It will not be a complete trip without enjoying the Seafood in Sabah. The students were were served with a variety of seafood from lobster, squid, mussels and grilled fish that are mouth-watringly delicious during dinner.

On the second day, the activities continued with visits to the dairy farm, fish massage, hot spring (canopy walk), Kinabalu National Park before  heading straight to Kota Kinabalu. On the third day, activities were held on the island in which the participants were taken to Manukan Island for snorkelling and jogging activities. After completing this activity, participants returned to the hotel to rest.

On the last day, the participants paid a visit to the Tun Mustapha Tower (Sabah Foundation Building), a floating mosque, signal hill, Sabah museum. Before their return to Kuala Lumpur, participants were taken to Cocoa boutique to buy souvenirs before heading to the airport.

One of the mobility student from Japan, Keita Isago said that the trip was a very valuable and memorable experience that can’t be forgotten because of Borneo’s unique charm and it is perfect to family vacations.

"This activity made me so excited to see the beauty of Sabah so close, seeing Mount Kinabalu really gives me a thousand meanings to return here and I hope to one day come here together with my family," he said.

Activity in Sabah ended on the night of November 03, 2019 and the participants gathered at Kota Kinabalu Airport to board the plane to Kuala Lumpur Airport 2.  Hopefully, The 4-day event will be able to provide students with a very meaningful experience and will be their most memorable experience when they return home.
