COURTESY VISIT FROM STAF ATTACHMENT ERASMUS+ PROGRAM

In June 2022, we welcomed Prof. Dr Barbara Wieckowska from SGS Warsaw School of Economics, Poland. She is attached to the School of Business and Economics , under the supervision of Prof Dr Rusmawati Said for five (5) days. During her attachment, Prof. Barbara had also spared some time to pay a courtesy visit at Putra International Centre (i-PUTRA)  in which she was greeted by our Director, Prof. Dr. Suhaimi

To fulfill one of the requirement for the staff attachment Erasmus+ programme which stipulate that cultural exploration to be included in the programme, i-PUTRA has assisted the school to conduct the cultural visit.

The event of the Putra Experience trip began with picking her up at the hotel early in the Morning. Our first destination was visit to the Batu Caves in Gombak. Malaysia’s Batu Caves are home to one of the most important Hindu shrines in the world: a joyful homage to Lord Murugan, who triumphed over the demons in Tamil Hindu lore. The massive staircase that leads to the caves is comprised of bright bands of color. The main Cave is known as the Temple Cave or Cathedral Cave and is accessed by a steep flight of 272 steps. The top of the stairs brought us into a massive cave with a high vaulted ceiling. The cave serves as a Hindu Temple devoted to Lord Muragan whose 42 meter high gold statue stands guard outside.

After an hour's visit, at 11:30 am, we visited Thean Hou Temple. Thean Hou Temple is located in Seputeh, it is popular with the architecture among its visitors. The most exciting part of this temple is the architecture is blended with Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism. After taking a lot of pictures and admiring the art, we then visited the National Museum in Kuala Lumpur to know more about the history of Malaya and its culture. The National Museum comprises history from the Majapahit civilization and this is the place where Prof Dr Barbara learned  more about the history of Malaya.  At 3:00 pm, we visited Malaysia Tourism Centre (MATIC). MATIC is the place where tourists can get more information on Malaysia and places to visit. There was also a cultural dance show held in mini auditorium hall, Malaysia Tourism Centre (Matic). In this 1 hour show, we were entertained by various Malaysian traditional dances. All of the dancers looking very beautiful in their traditional costumes. Finally, the delegates were sent back to the hotell and we safely arrived at UPM around 6.00 pm.
