ENG @ EXMAL : LEARNING ENGLISH AND EXPLORE MALAYSIA - AJOU UNIVERSITY

The International Center (i-PUTRA) welcomes 12 students from Ajou University, South Korea from January 5 to 18, 2020. The students have participated in the 14-days Mobility Program which consisted of English-language learning programs, run by the Center for the Advancement of Language Competence (CALC) and, Culture Trip run by International Center (i-PUTRA).

The i-PUTRA has also organized the program according to the suitability and background of the students. Through this program, the students were given the opportunity to learn the basics of communication in English and cross-cultural in Malaysia contextually.

On the second day, students were taken to CALC for an introductory session with the language instructors along with a short briefing on the activities that will be conducted throughout their mobility program. After the briefing session, the started their English language subject, Reading for Academic Purposes (LPE2401). The classes were held on the 3rd, 5th, 9th, 10th, and 12th days of their mobility program.

On the 4th day, the students were taken to Melaka for a cultural visit. Among the attractions in Melaka are Jonker street, A Famosa, Christ Church, The Stadthuys- Dataran Pahlawan, Mini Malaysia & ASEAN Cultural Park, Melaka Sultanate Palace - Baba Nyonya Heritage, Klebang Beach and The Shore. Students were also introduced to the local food, Cendol which is made up of glutinous rice flour eaten with coconut milk and brown sugar.

 

On day 6, the students were taken to visit the UPM Deer Farm under the supervision of EDU-Park. All participants were given a briefing on the animal before the students were given the experience to feed the animal. Students were then taken to MAEPS, Serdang to visit traditional houses in Malaysia, IOI CityMall Putrajaya, and in the evening the students were taken to Putra Mosque, Putrajaya Complex and Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC).

 

On the 7th day, participants were brought to Kuala Lumpur to visit the National Palace, Batu Caves, KLCC, Malaysia Tourism Center (MATIC) and the Art Market. All participants can see the legacy of Yang Dipertuan Agong and be given the opportunity to try the traditional dance shown at MATIC.

 

Later on the 11th day, the students were taken to the Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex to learn the technique of dyeing and coloring. The students can also bring home paintings that have been made and prepared as souvenirs.

 

On the 13th, students took the assessment test for subject LPE 2401 and were then celebrated at the program closing ceremony. The event was attended by i-PUTRA Director, CALC Director and CALC Language instructors. Students were also awarded certificates from i-PUTRA and a certificate of completion from CALC.

The 14th marks the end of the program and the students returned to Korea.
