Hiking with International Students @ Bukit Kerinchi

Putra International Center (i-PUTRA), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) held a hiking activity at Bukit Kerinchi Wilderness and Bukit Gasing, Kuala Lumpur. The event was attended by 33 students of 2 trading officers, 5 accompanying officers from of i-PUTRA together with i-PUTRA Director Prof. Dr. Zainal Abidin Talib

The objective of this activity is to expose the international community to the beauty of the flora and fauna found in Malaysia especially in the city of Kuala Lumpur. The event also aims to provide an appropriate recreational activity for the international community to relax with family and friends.

Activities began with participants gathered at i-PUTRA at 7 am. The participants have had their breakfast before embarking on the journey. The journey from UPM to Kerinchi Bukit Forest takes only 30 minutes. Upon arriving at the jungle, participants took pictures together and continued their hike. This activity has a different impact on some participants as some of them love to see different kinds of plants and while to some participants, this is their first time seeing apes in the forest and they are very happy. The hike took 1 to 2 hours and participants are free to roam around the area and engage with activities offered at the location.

One of the international undergraduate students who joined the program, MD Mohiuddin Imtiaz from Bangladesh said it was an exciting activity to spend the weekend with friends and family.

"This activity makes me want to get to know Malaysia better in a different light. There are various sports and recreational activities that I can do with my friends," he said.

The jungle also offers various amenities such as toilets, signage, mini waterfalls, dining areas and a suspension bridge for its visitors.

The activities at Bukit Kerinchi Wilderness ended at noon and participants returned to UPM after completing their hike. Hopefully, this half-day event managed to provide a memorable experience for participants which can be shared with their friends and family.
