International Student @ Melaka

MALACCA, 1 March 2020 – Putra International Centre (iPUTRA), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and the Buddies Association have conducted a trip to Malacca for the semester two 2019/2020 internationals. The registration session started at 7.00am at Dewan Besar UPM. The program was participated by 125 international students, five iPUTRA staff and 22 Buddies.

The historic city of Malacca was selected as the venue of the program to assist the non-local students to experience Malaysia by touring around the city of historical adventures. The visit included touring around Muzium Samudera, Bukit St. Paul, Kota A Famosa, Gereja St. John, The Stadthuys and Rumah Kediaman Syed Al Attas.

Students were given the opportunity to visit Jonker Street to have a taste of the authentic Malaysian street food such as Cendol, Asam Laksa, Kuih- Muih and more. The photography session was also conducted joyfully at scenic places occupied with murals and beautiful scenery.

“In spite of the heat due to the hot weather, this would definitely not be an obstacle for me from enjoying my day in Malacca. There are tons of unseen things and untried cuisines. I will absolutely be back again,” said Marco Vinicio Ovalles Cardenas, a Mexican student.

The participants gathered at 3.00pm after the exhaustion of visiting Malacca and they safely arrived in UPM at 6.00pm. The visit impacted the internationals differently and it is seen as a good start for them to be more insightful of Malaysia from different perspectives.
