SERDANG, 22 July – UPM recently welcomed 20 students from the King Mongkut University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Thailand for an enriching mobility programme that took place from 18 to 31 July 2024. These students are from the Faculty of Engineering at KMUTT, and they did their mobility programme at the Faculty of Engineering, UPM. The two-week mobility programme is an initiative to enhance international academic collaboration between UPM and KMUTT.

i-PUTRA had the honour of hosting these students for an academic and cultural immersion on 22 July 2024. The students began their day with a visit to the Malay Heritage Museum at the Faculty of Modern Language and Communication. They had the chance to explore diverse elements and gain a deeper understanding of Malay culture and historical heritage. The students then continued their cultural journey by visiting old traditional Malay houses, including Rumah Negeri Sembilan, Rumah Pahang, Rumah Terengganu, and Rumah Perak. These houses have their own distinct features, which make each house different from the others.

One of the key components during the campus tour was the Sultan Abdul Samad Library of UPM. The students were briefed on the operation and resources available at the library. They learnt a lot about the extensive collection and the library’s role in supporting the university's research and learning efforts. The tour concluded with a visit to Farm Fresh, a leading agricultural enterprise known for its sustainable farming practices. The students were taken on a farm tour to gain insights into the importance of sustainable agriculture in Malaysia.

This academic and cultural exploration marks a significant milestone in the university’s internationalisation efforts. We hope to welcome KMUTT to UPM again in the near future.
