MALAYSIA & RUSSIA STRENGTHEN STRATEGIC COOPERATION – i-PUTRA’S ROLE IN GLOBAL NETWORKING

29 April 2026 | Tomsk, Russia

UPM continues to strengthen its global network through the signing of three Letters of Intent (LoI) with leading Russian universities during the Working Group on Education, Science and Technology Meeting in Tomsk. The UPM delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Alyani Ismail, Director of PUTRA International Centre (i-PUTRA), accompanied by Puan Shahriah Membar, Deputy Director (Management) of i-PUTRA.

This collaboration covers academic development, joint research, staff and student mobility, as well as the organisation of international intellectual activities. UPM also explored high-technology industry collaboration with Tesart, focusing on training, knowledge-sharing, and research and development (R&D).

This initiative marks an important first step towards formalising stronger partnerships through Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) and Memoranda of Agreement (MoA), while expanding opportunities for innovation and further strengthening UPM’s position at the global level.
