6 September 2019: New International Students Welcoming Programme (NISWP) SEM 1 (2019/2020)

SERDANG, 06 September 2019. Putra International Centre (i-PUTRA), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) had conducted an orientation programme known as New International Students Welcoming Programme (NISWP) for mobility and bachelor students for the academic year 2019/2020, semester 1, at UPM Experimental Theatre. The objective of the programme were to gather all mobility students from various countries to meet with the UPM Buddies, UPM International Student Association (UPMISA) and UPM officers and management. In addition, this programme was also conducted to provide explanation about visa and pass, security issue, accommodation, transportation and facilities available in UPM and Klang Valley.

The ceremony was officiated by Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic and International, Professor. Ts. Dr. M. Iqbal Saripan. He congratulated the international students who have chosen UPM as their destination to study abroad.

“It is UPM’s greatest pleasure to have the mobility and bachelor students here, and hoped that they have endeavour into great journey of life, experiencing the multicultural and the beautiful, vibrant Malaysia throughout their stay here”, he said in his opening speech. He ended his opening remarks with hope that the students will be able to learn and gain something valuable during their stay in Malaysia.

 

The programme began with the performance by the volunteers from UPM Buddies and UPMISA followed by the opening speech by Deputy Vice of Academic and International. Then, The event was followed by ice breaking session and introductions to the LAX subject. The event was followed by introductions to UPM, UPM Academic rules, UPM EDU Park, visas and student passes, security briefings while in UPM as well as introduction to UPM Buddies and UPMISA activities. Nearly 700 students who attended the event received souvenirs from i-PUTRA which consisted of t-shirt, bag and hat. This event were initiated to ensure that mobility and bachelor students from all over the world are aware of important information while living in Malaysia and were able to enjoy Putra Experience to the fullest.
