Trip @ Langkawi with International Students

LANGKAWI, KEDAH, October 25, 2019. Putra International Center (i-PUTRA), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) organized a visit to Langkawi Island, Kedah from October 25, 2019 to October 28, 2019. The tour was attended by 13 international students and 2 officer from the International Center.

The objective of this activity is to give students exposure to one of Malaysia's most famous islands and its uniqueness. The tour also aimed at promoting Malaysia and Langkawi Island, especially to foreign tourists.


The journey from UPM to the Kuala Perlis Pier started from 10.00pm and the 9-hour journey does not disaapoint. After arriving at the Jetty, participants then boarded a ferry to Langkawi Island and to the beauty of the surrounding islands from a distance.

Upon arriving at the Langkawi Island Pier, students took pictures with the iconic eagle statue at Lang Square. Many interesting activities were carried out throughout the Langkawi Island trip such as Visiting the Kilim Geopark mangrove to see bats in Gua Kelawar, The student also swam on private beaches and were given the opportunity to see the feeding process for the Eagle in Kilim Geopark. The students were also brought to visit the caves and the Mahsuri Tomb Complex. In addition, students were also taken to ride the cable car to see an aerial view of Langkawi Island from the top of Mount Mat Chinchang. Langkawi Island is known as a tax-free island, students also did not miss out on the opportunity to shop there.

 

 

 


One of the mobility students who went for the trip,Li Zhiqzang from China, said that this was an exciting and unforgettable experience as Langkawi Island had its own unique charm, and he were able to meet new friends from other countries and hope to return here one day with his family.

 

 

"This activity made me so excited to see this beautiful island, I was able to meet many new friends from all over the world and hope to one day come here with my family," he said.


The Langkawi Island trip ended on the morning of October 28, 2019 where student too the ferry to Kuala Perlis and return to UPM by van. The 4-day event is hoped to provide students with a very meaningful experience and will be their fondest memory upon their return home.
