SERDANG, 23 July 2024 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) proudly hosted a delegation from Norxin International Science and Technology Cooperation Base, China. The delegation was led by Dr. Gang Guo, the Chief Director of Norxin International Science and Technology Cooperation Base.

The programme started at 9:00 A.M. with warm opening remarks from Associate Professor Dr. Che Azurahanim Che Abdullah, the Deputy Director of the PUTRA International Centre (i-PUTRA). In her speech, Dr. Che Azurahanim said, “I believe that we all share common goals of enhancing healthcare services, promoting health education, and conducting impactful research for the betterment of society's well-being”.

Dr. Gang Guo, representing Norxin International, delivered an insightful speech, highlighting the synergies between their organisation and UPM’s ongoing initiatives. The discussion was followed by a comprehensive introduction to Malaysia and UPM, providing the attendees with a broader understanding of the university’s role in the national and global landscape. Norxin International also took the opportunity to showcase a brief video of the organisation. Later, the programme continued with an introduction to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Hospital (HSAAS) where participants learned about the hospital's key functions and contributions to public health.

Dr. Muhammad Zaid Bin Abu Bakar, a Medical Officer from the Public Health Unit, then led a seminar on public health in Malaysia, offering valuable insights into current challenges and advancements in the field. Associate Professor Dr Anita Abdul Rahman, Head of the Public Health Unit, HSAAS, also attended the session. The session then engaged in a very fruitful exchange of ideas between the delegation and HSAAS representatives. The delegation was taken on a tour of HSAAS to let them experience the hospital's cutting-edge facilities and research efforts first-hand.

The afternoon program featured a mini campus tour, showcasing UPM’s vibrant green campus, academic environment, and facilities. The day concluded with a visit to the Malay Heritage Museum located at the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, where they were exposed to Malaysia's rich cultural heritage. This program is a platform to bridge and foster international relationships and advance knowledge across various disciplines between two institutions.
