SERDANG, 12 July – UPM had the honour of hosting a delegation from Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), Indonesia. The delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Suyono, Director of Academic, UM. UPM’s side was led by Dato' Prof. Dr. Shamala K. Subramaniam, the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology. The visit focused on discussions to enhance international collaboration and share best practices between the two institutions. For the record, UPM has an active MoU with UM anchored by the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication and is also actively engaged in inbound and outbound mobility programmes.

The discussion engaged in a dynamic session to explore strategies and exchange knowledge and experience on how UPM implement courses in the English language. The discussion also touched on language support, cultural inclusivity, and student integration. On top of that, the meeting also addressed academic policies, including curriculum development and student selection criteria. This was to ensure that the curriculum meets both Malaysian and international standards.

The meeting also included another important agenda which was quality assurance processes to maintain high-quality education and services. The delegation discussed curriculum reviews, accreditation, student feedback mechanisms and also faculty development.

To end the fruitful meeting, the delegation was brought on a tour around the academic cluster at UPM and get to understand the resources available to students and faculty. The visit from UM was an enriching experience, fostering international cooperation and the exchange of innovative ideas. We look forward to continued collaboration and mutual growth in the field of higher education, inspired by the potential of international collaboration.
