READ@UNI 2026| Reading Culture Through "Let's Review a Book" Programme

SERDANG, 3 July 2026 – The PUTRA International Centre (i-PUTRA) continues to strengthen the culture of knowledge among its staff through the organisation of the "Let's Review a Book" programme under the Read@Uni initiative, held at the Shelf Indulgence Corner, i-PUTRA.

The session featured Puan Shahriah Membar, Deputy Director (Management), who presented an insightful review of the classic novel Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. Conducted in a relaxed and interactive setting, the session provided participants with a deeper understanding of the novel's synopsis, central themes, and the moral values embedded in the story.

Beyond discussing the storyline, Puan Shahriah highlighted valuable lessons that can be applied in both daily life and the workplace, particularly in relation to wise decision-making, balancing emotion with reason, as well as the importance of family values, integrity, and sound judgement.

The one-hour programme received an encouraging response from i-PUTRA staff. An interactive discussion session also allowed participants to exchange ideas, share personal experiences, and reflect on the messages and values conveyed through the novel.

This programme forms part of the Read@Uni initiative, which aims to foster a reading culture, encourage knowledge sharing, and provide an informal learning platform for staff. Such initiatives are expected to cultivate a sustained interest in reading while promoting lifelong learning among the i-PUTRA community.

Through programmes such as this, i-PUTRA remains committed to creating a conducive, knowledge-driven work environment that supports the University's aspiration of nurturing an informed, critical-thinking, and lifelong learning community.
