Welcome New Mobility Students to UPM!

SERDANG - A total of 249 mobility students and 30 international students of the Bachelor programme attended the international student orientation program for two (2) days known as the New International Students Welcoming Program organized by Putra International Centre (i-PUTRA) Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

The NISWP program has been started by exploring Bandar Hilir, Melaka Historical City on September 4, 2017. This location is chosen because of the unique cultural diversity in Malaysia that can be seen here as well as a site that is also recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Students are so excited to explore Bandar Hilir because of the uniqueness of the food, the language and also studying the history of Malaysia's existence which was once known as one of the great civilizations in the world of Malaya.

"I chose to undergo mobility programme in Malaysia and UPM especially as Malaysia is well-known as one of Southeast Asia's most culturally diverse countries as well as having many exciting places to explore," JOHN CARTER, USA.

The second day of the program is held at the UPM Great Hall designed to answer questions and provide inputs related to the resources, academic and services provided at UPM Serdang campus. Additionally, the second day of the program also provides an opportunity for international students of mobility especially to know their campus and their buddy known as UPM Buddies.

"I have a chance to get acquainted with mobility colleagues from various countries and learn how to communicate with friends from different backgrounds of culture and understanding," ARAILYM YUSSUPOVA, KAZAKHSTAN.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. M Iqbal Saripan also welcomed the arrival of the international students to UPM.

"Welcome to Universiti Putra Malaysia. We hope you will have great experience in this campus and Malaysia, "he said.

It is hoped that this program will help in providing relevant information to mobility students as well as international students of the Bachelor programme.
