To support the university vision and mission to become a university of international repute, the mobility section in cooperation with the Global Engagement Section, from Putra International Centre (i-PUTRA), organized a workshop with the UPM mobility coordinators. This workshop was held to discuss the strategies and issues faced by the faculty and i-PUTRA to support the UPM internationalization efforts.

The workshop, which was held at the SCL Room, School of Economics and Business on the 25th of January 2023 was attended by representatives from twenty-seven different Faculties, Institutes, Colleges, and Centers across UPM. The workshop was also attended by a representative from UPM Bintulu Campus who joined the workshop virtually. The workshop began at 9 a.m. and ended at 12.30 p.m.

The attendees were divided into four (4) groups. Each group were tasked to discuss the different university’s KPIs on internationalization. The KPIs are related to Inbound student mobility, outbound student mobility, summer programme, and percentages for UPM graduating student who pursued their outbound mobility program throughout their study programme. 

During this discussion, various strategies and challenges faced by the entities involved were discussed and elaborated. Through this workshop, we were able to discuss some of the challenges faced by the faculties and institutes while at the same time discuss on the possible way forward to support the university’s internationalization efforts. 

The outcome of the discussion will be brought and highlighted by i-PUTRA to the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic and International for further discussion. We hope that through the discussion and input provided by the coordinators, we would be able to effectively support the university’s internationalization efforts while at the same time getting relevant support from the respective entities.
