Hochschule Furtwangen University, Germany (HFU)-Summer School programme 2018 for international students: “White Water Management – Learning Management in a new way”

This summer school teaches relevant management principles in an action-orientated outdoor & white water kayaking environment of the canton Ticino in Switzerland from the 3rd August 2018 until the 10th August 2018. Courses will be in English.

Like the environment for managers the environment of white water is marked through uncertain, unpredictable settings, which demands again and again strategic target-orientated decisions by the actors. Students will learn management principles effectively and directly exercised in action. This approach leads even kayak-beginners through the experience of white water straight to the core tasks of management. It’s about skills, not about muscles! White water beginners are welcome!

The course provides 6 ECTS. It is designed not only for students of Bachelor, Master and Ph. D. level with a focus on Business Management, but also for other related studies, which provide management input.

Homepage www.hfu-summerschool.com

Applications are possible from now until 15th of June 2018, but please have in mind that places are limited to 12 students!

For submission and more info, please liase with Miss Nadia at zawani@upm.edu.my and Miss Suhana at hanajohan@upm.edu.my or call at 03-8946 7808.

  1. The purpose of this notice is to provide clarification on the new requirement implemented by Malaysian Immigration Department.

  1. With immediate effect, the Malaysian Immigration Department will only proceed with the student pass endorsement if the student arrives in Malaysia witihin the validity of the Visa Approval Letter (VAL), which is valid for 6 months from the date issuance.
  2. If the student does not enter Malaysia with a solid single-entry visa (SEV) or visa on arrival within the validity period of the VAL, the Malaysian Immigration Department may not proceed with the student pass endorsement.
  3. Example: Student was issued the VAL on 1st June 2017 and will expire on 30th November 2017. The student obtained the SEV (valid for 90 days) on 30th November 2017 and arrived in Malaysia on 1st December 2017, which is after the expiry of the VAL. Because the student had entered Malaysia AFTER the expiry of the VAL, immigration may not proceed with the student pass endorsement. Student must arrive in Malaysia within the 6 months validity period of the VAL from 1st June 2017 to 30th November 2017 and ensure that SEV (if required) is obtained within this period.
  4. This directive is implemented immediately by the Malaysian Immigration Department.

23rd January 2018

    • This information is intended to provide clarification on VAL Extension request received from Educational Institutions.
    • This guideline is based on the “Mesyuarat Penyelarasan antara EMGS dan Jabatan Imegresen Putrajaya [Bil.1].

All international students intending to pursue education in Malaysia are required to enter Malaysia with SEV (Single Entry Visa) or VOA (Visa On-Arrival) before the expiry date of the VAL.
    • It is mandatory for all international students to enter Malaysia before the expiry of the VAL since VAL is issued with six (6) months validity, which is sufficient for international students to enter the country.
    • In reference to the bulletin that was published on 9th January 2018, if the student does not enter Malaysia with a valid Single-Entry Visa (SEV) or Visa On-Arrival within the validity period of the VAL, the Malaysian Immigration Department may not proceed with the student pass endorsement.
    • Even if the student has obtained a valid Single-Entry Visa (SEV) but entered Malaysia after the expiry date of the VAL the Malaysian Immigration Department may not proceed with the student pass endorsement.

This year marks an important milestone for the Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Programme. Since 2009, the student scheme, which began as the Malaysia-Indonesia-Thailand (M-I-T) Pilot Programme, has successfully mobilised more than 4,154 students among 8 member countries (Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) and 69 participating higher education institutions in a span of 10 years.

In celebration of this milestone, the 10th anniversary of the programme will be held adjunct to the 13th Review Meeting of the AIMS Programme on 11-13 November 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. SEAMEO RIHED and the host of 13th Annual Review Meeting of the AIMS Programme, the Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC), Thailand, have delightfully prepared several activities to which stakeholders of the Programme, including the students, are invited to participate. Students, university staff and governments a like can participate in taking advantage of policy platforms and expressing their creativity in reinvigorating the image of the AIMS Programme in the following activities, namely:
