Program : Semester Exchange to Soka University, Japan
Participating in the outbound mobility program at Soka University, Tokyo has been an incredible journey that has not only expanded our horizons but also cultural understanding. In this article, we will provide an insightful overview of our experience, the vibrant campus life and the personal development and growth that we have gained throughout the program.
Upon our arrival at Soka University, we were warmly welcomed by the staffs from the International Affairs Office. They organized a comprehensive orientation sessions and events, which includes student life orientation, course registration, campus tour, police orientation and so on. We are required to enroll in at least 10 credits per week as foreign students in Japan. Therefore, students need to take 7 or more classes per week in a semester.
Soka University, renowned for its academic excellence, provided us with a stimulating learning environment. The courses we took ranged from Japanese language to global issues. The professors were highly knowledgeable particularly in fostering an interactive learning atmosphere. Engaging in lively discussions with international classmates indeed has enabled us to broaden our perspectives.
Besides, the university's International Affairs Office had organized various events for international student. One of the most memorable events was a one- day trip to Hakone, a town renowned for its stunning landscapes and cultural attractions. This trip involves visitations to the Hakone landmarks such as Lake Ashi, Owakudani and Odawara Castle. Undeniably, it was definitely a unique opportunity to admire Japan's landscapes while bonding with the international students.
Participating in the spring semester exchange program at Soka University had provided us with the opportunity for personal growth. Living in a foreign country challenged us to step out of our comfort zone and adapt to a new culture. Trying local cuisine, and exploring its many attractions enabled us to develop a sense of self-reliance and adaptability. Moreover, interacting with exchange students from around the world broadened our perspective. Isn't it wonderful to meet new friends from different country?
Our outbound mobility program at Soka University, Japan has been an incredibly rewarding journey. We have not only widened our knowledge but also personal growth. This program has provided us with unforgettable memories. We are immensely grateful to Universiti Putra Malaysia for providing us with the opportunity to participate in Spring Semester Exchange Program at Soka University
