I am Mohammad Zohrul Islam from engineering faculty. Lately, I have participated in the 6th Malaysia International Youth exchange program (MIYE6) which was held on 25 to 27 January 2020 at The International Youth Centre, Cheras. In this article I am going to share my experience with MIYE6. First and foremost, I would like to take the chance to express my cordial gratitude to PUTRA International Centre (i-PUTRA) for giving me the wonderful life changing opportunity to be a part of this programme.

The program entitled Environmental Sustainability for ASEAN and was designed to accelerate youth networking in building better future for all by achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. The key purpose of this program is to make a borderless platform for all Nationals to strengthen friendship and cooperation among young talents. For the first time, MIYE6 opened its door for all young leaders around the world beyond ASEAN to experience youth exchange.

MIYE6 was organized jointly by the committee for ASEAN youth Corporation (CAYC) and Malaysia Youth Council (MYC) in partnership with International Youth Centre (MYC) and the Ministry Of Youth and Sports Malaysia (KBS).

The programme were participated by 30 youth leaders from 12 countries including Malaysia. In the activity all participants were divided into 5 different team consisting of 6 members in each group. Each group had distinct name and theme song which represented their inner power and strength. It is worth mentioning that we were 8 participants from UPM in the program.

The entire program consisting of workshop on sustainable development goal (SDG), our land and environment sustainability was wonderful. MIYE6 highlighted 3 SDG goals among 17 called climate action (Sl-13), life below water (Sl-14) and life on land (So-15) in the conference to educate and empower youth in achieving sustainable healthy environment for all. Moreover, games, hiking, cooking, cultural performance, sharing ideas, video presentation, and teamwork were the amazing and fantastic parts of the program.

Interesting thing, we did not play games for fun only but through games we learned to solve problems in a creative and efficient way within a very short period of time. We enjoyed every team work because it taught us how to cope with problems wisely and optimally despite of having different points of views of each member.

While hiking we came to know a number of flora names and we enjoyed the cold air in the jungle and fascinating natural beauty. The enchanting waterfall and melodious sound of birds are still vivid in my mind.

Through all these activities, this program developed our leadership quality, tolerance attitude, self-exploration, lifelong global friendship, cross-cultural taste of different countries. Overall, it installed in our mind a positive sense of well-being of all animals and plants in our natural eco-system. In video presentation our group, Titanium, got champion award where we presented how we contaminate water and the consequences of drinking polluted water.

In the end, the idea of empowering youth around the world is one of the best decision to protect and preserve the environment all over the world as a global citizen. If youth leaders get opportunity to exercise their talents in reaching their hope and ambition, then these youth can play tremendous role in making this world safer, more secure and sustainable for all. Last but not least, MIYE6 has transferred successfully the strongest message to preserve our environment in order to get rid of the detrimental effect of climate change, global warming, environment pollution and deforestation.
