Exploring Collaboration Possibilities with Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University (AYBU), Turkiye

26 June 2023 - As part of its ongoing efforts towards internationalization, PUTRA International Centre (i-PUTRA), conducted an online meeting on June 26, 2023 with  Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University (AYBU), Turkiye. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss academic cooperation between between  Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University (AYBU) and Universiti Putra Malaysia along with the potential establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions.

 

Representatives from AYBU in attendance were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Åžemsettin Tabur, Director of AYBU International Relations; Prof. Dr. Hasan Okuyucu, Dean of AYBU Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences; Assoc. Dr. Fatih Nar, Associate Professor at AYBU Department of Computer Engineering; and Assoc. Dr. Filiz KarakuÅŸ, Associate Professor at AYBU Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts. Also attending the discussion were the UPM representatives represented by the Director of i-PUTRA, the Deputy Director of i-PUTRA, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, and a Senior Lecturer from the Faculty of Design and Architecture.

 

During the discussion, it was highlighted that while UPM already possesses an active agreement under the MEVLANA Exchange Protocol until 2025, the MEVLANA program has been temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore,, the discussion were steered to focus on establishing cooperation under MOU as well as exploring possible cooperation within the ERASMUS+ Program. During the meeting, UPM also took the opportunity to promote its summer program, aimed at attracting international students to experience the rich educational offerings and cultural diversity of the university.

 

The productive meeting concluded with both institutions expressing keen interest in pursuing further collaboration. The potential partnership between UPM and AYBU holds great promise for fostering academic excellence, research exchange, and cultural understanding between Malaysia and Turkey, ultimately contributing to the advancement of global education.
