Republic of Tatarstan Delegation Strengthens Academic Ties with UPM During Working Visit

Serdang, Malaysia - On the 26th of October, 2023, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) had the honor of hosting a distinguished delegation from the Republic of Tatarstan as part of their working visit to Malaysia. This visit not only marked a significant step in strengthening academic cooperation but also showcased the warm hospitality of UPM.

Headed by Prof. Albert Kharisovich Gimutdinov, Aide to Rais, the Republic of Tatarstan delegation included Dr. Ilsur Garaevich Khadiullin, Minister of Education and Science, along with representatives from nine universities in the Republic of Tatarstan. Coordinating the visit was the Internationalization of Higher Education Division (IHED) of the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), Malaysia.

UPM's delegation was led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Student Affairs and Alumni, and included representatives from various faculties, including the Faculty of Veterinary Studies, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Science, Halal Products Research Institute, Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Food Security (ITAFoS), and PUTRA International Centre (i-PUTRA).

The day commenced with a campus tour, allowing the visiting delegates to experience the beauty and functionality of UPM's facilities. This was followed by a courtesy call chaired by UPM's Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Student Affairs and Alumni. During the courtesy call, both UPM and Republic of Tatarstan representatives exchanged welcoming remarks, highlighting the shared commitment to international academic collaboration.

The program then transitioned into a lively and informative discussion session between the UPM representatives and the visiting delegation from the Republic of Tatarstan. This session served as a platform for sharing ideas, exploring potential collaboration opportunities, and strengthening academic bonds. The engaging discussions were followed by a token of appreciation in the form of gift exchange and a joyful photography session, capturing the memorable moments of the day.

Continuing the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to explore UPM's exceptional academic resources. They were taken on a tour of the Animal Anatomy Museum, the University Veterinary Hospital, and the UPM Farm. The UPM Farm visit was particularly delightful, offering the delegates a chance to savor the renowned "king of fruits," durian, a true Malaysian specialty.

The visit culminated with a trip to the Halal Products Research Institute laboratory, where the delegates were introduced to cutting-edge research and innovation in the field of halal products.

The visit by the Republic of Tatarstan delegation not only reaffirmed the commitment to fostering global academic partnerships but also enriched the cultural and academic exchange between UPM and its international guests. It was a day of collaboration, shared knowledge, and new friendships, setting the stage for future endeavors in the world of academia.
