SERDANG, 16 February – UPM today received a courtesy visit from the University of Anbar (UoA), Iraq, with the delegation led by Prof. Dr. Ameer Abdulrahman Hilal, Dean of College Engineering, University of Anbar. The objective of the visit was to discuss the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the UoA and UPM and to explore other potential collaborations between the two institutions.

The meeting was chaired by Dato' Prof. Dr. Shamala K. Subramaniam, Dean, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, UPM. The meeting commenced at 9:15 a.m. with a brief presentation on UPM by Dato' Prof. Dr. Shamala. Moving forward, Prof. Dr. Ameer Abdulrahman Hilal then continued with a presentation on the University of Anbar.

During the meeting, both institutions engaged in extensive discussions about the potential for computer science and engineering collaborations between the two regions to boost the academia and regional landscape, especially on joint initiatives and strategic partnerships. Also, Dato' Prof. Dr. Shamala had expressed the interest for the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology to lead the MoU between UoA and UPM.

It is great to see such proactive engagement between these two institutions. With a shared commitment, UPM looks forward to a future filled with research endeavours, student and staff exchanges, and other possibilities and opportunities.
