An auspicious day for UPM's internationalization efforts.

20 March 2023 – On the 20th of March 2023, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) hosted and welcomed delegations two distinguished universities from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT), Japan, and Groningen University, Netherlands. The purpose of their visit was to discuss potential collaborations and to strengthen ties between the institutions.

i-PUTRA was invited to join the courtesy visit by TUAT to the Faculty of Agriculture. The delegation from TUAT was represented by Dr. Kayo Yokomori, the AIMS Program Coordinator from TUAT, and she was welcomed to the Faculty of Agriculture Meeting Room by Dr. Juwaidah Sharifudin and Dr. Roslan Ismail, alongside mobility coordinators Ms. Fahezah Mohamed and Ms. Nadia Zawani Hussin, all from UPM. The meeting centered around cooperation under the AIMS Exchange program between TUAT and UPM, as well as the Summer Program offered by the Faculty of Agriculture.

Subsequently, the PUTRA International Centre hosted a five-person delegation from Groningen University, comprising representatives from the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the Faculty of Economics and Business. UPM's Assoc Prof Dr. Edi Syams, Dr. Norsiah Jaharuddin, Madam Ida Suhaila Md Tahir, and Ms. Nadia Zawani Hussin also attended the meeting. The faculty representatives utilized the opportunity to present information about their respective programs, setting the tone for a productive discussion about student exchange and the barriers that prevent the institution from achieving equal representation in the number of inbound and outbound mobility students.

The meeting between the TUAT and Groningen University delegations signifies a substantial step towards establishing a flourishing and mutually beneficial partnership with UPM for the foreseeable future. The exchange of gifts and a brief photography session marked the culmination of a successful visit. It was, undoubtedly, an auspicious day for UPM's internationalization efforts.
