A Farewell Etched in Starlight

PUTRA International Centre (i-PUTRA) hosted a heartfelt farewell celebration on January 26, 2025, for 138 international mobility students hailing from 14 countries, marking the conclusion of their journey in the Semester Exchange Programme (Semester 1, 2024/2025).

The event took place at the elegant Mimosa Hall, situated within Lanai Asmara, Shaftsbury Putrajaya. Embracing the theme “Starry Night,” the evening served as a beautiful metaphor for the students’ shared experiences, illustrating how individuals from diverse backgrounds can shine together under the same sky, each contributing their own unique light to a larger constellation.

Amidst an atmosphere filled with warmth and gratitude, the celebration honoured the cherished memories and significant milestones of the students’ time at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). A certificate presentation ceremony acknowledged their successful completion of the programme, symbolising both an ending and a new beginning.

Attendees enjoyed a delightful dinner, fostering a spirit of fellowship, complemented by stunning performances that illuminated the night. Among the highlights were captivating acts by Mr. Muhammad Aiman Hadi bin Wardi from the School of Business and Economics at UPM, Ms. Muthia Muthmainnah from the University of Andalas, Indonesia, and Mr. Muhammad Azim Khairul Amir, Head of the Global Engagement Section at i-PUTRA.

As the evening progressed, selected students took to the stage to reflect on their journeys and share poignant moments. Mr. Ahn Dohyeon from Kangwon National University, Korea, and Mr. Marcel Simon Roizman from FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences, Germany, touched hearts with their stories, showcasing the lasting friendships and profound growth they experienced during their time at UPM.

The success of this memorable event was made possible through the unwavering dedication and support of the BUDDIES Association UPM, whose energy, passion, and commitment ensured that the evening was truly unforgettable for all participants.

To our international students, thank you for being an integral part of the UPM family. Your journey has left a meaningful imprint on our community, and we hope you carry a piece of UPM with you wherever life takes you. Keep shining—no matter where your path leads.
