Amid the whirlwind of academic life, with packed schedules and fleeting moments, it is easy to overlook the quiet beauty that surrounds us. But slowing down and being present reminds us of life’s simple joys, such as shared laughter and newfound friendships. Taking a moment to stop and smell the flowers helps us stay grounded and appreciate the journey.

On Wednesday, 25 June 2025, the PUTRA International Centre (i-PUTRA) hosted a heartfelt farewell celebration for 128 international mobility students from 14 countries who had participated in the Semester Exchange Programme (Semester 2, 2024/2025).

Held at the elegant Renjana Hall by Lanai Asmara, the event embraced a ‘Cottagecore’ theme—symbolising simplicity, warmth, and the serene beauty of nature. The evening offered a chance to unwind, share laughter, and celebrate the close of a meaningful chapter in Malaysia for our international guests.

Guests were treated to a sumptuous dinner featuring local culinary delights, providing students with one last taste of Malaysia’s rich food culture. The evening was further enlivened by captivating performances from Ms. Wu Yaoyao of Henan Institute of Science and Technology, China; Mr. Muhammad Syafiq Farhan Boo Omar Boo, Head of i-PUTRA’s Mobility Section; and Mr. Muhammad Azim Khairul Amir, Head of i-PUTRA’s Global Engagement Section.

A reflective sharing session by mobility students Ms. Axelle Hamadi from Isen Yncrea Ouest Brest, France; Ms. Manal Kamali from the University of Angers, France; and Mr. Seo Yedam from Chungnam National University, Korea highlighted the enriching experiences and lasting impressions they gained during their time at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). In recognition of their completion of the programme, students were awarded certificates during a special ceremony.

The success of the event was made possible through the unwavering support of the Buddies Association UPM. Their enthusiasm, dedication, and hospitality created a warm and welcoming environment that made the farewell truly memorable.

As the saying goes, “when one journey ends, a universe of hope begins.” The memories and experiences gained throughout the semester will serve as stepping stones to even greater opportunities. Thank you for being part of the UPM family. May this be the beginning of a journey filled with new hope and endless possibilities.
