Courtesy Visit from Phuket Rajabhat University, Thailand

SERDANG, 26 August 2024 – PUTRA International Centre (i-PUTRA), UPM today received a courtesy visit from Phuket Rajabhat University (PKRU), Thailand. PKRU was represented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nimit Soonsan, Assistant President (Quality Learning Development), and Warangkana Thongnoppakun, Assistant Head of International Student Management. This meeting was held following the meeting of Prof. Dr. Alyani Ismail and Asst. Prof. Dr. Nimit Soonsan during the IMT-GT UNINET conference in Pattani, Thailand, from 23 – 25 July 2024.

Associate Prof. Dr. Che Azurahanim Che Abdullah, Deputy Director of i-PUTRA, chaired the discussion. Dr. Nor Azni Abdul Aziz, Deputy Dean (Academic, Student, and Alumni Affairs) of the Faculty of Educational Studies, and Mr. Muhamad Adib Mohammed, Executive Officer of the School of Business and Economics, also attended the session.

During the meeting, PKRU expressed interest in collaborating with UPM in student mobility programme and research collaborations in education, business, and social sciences. The discussion also discussed potential cooperation and bilateral engagement that would benefit both institutions. Associate Prof. Dr. Che Azurahanim stated that this discussion would open up opportunities for holistic cross-disciplinary collaborations, particularly in business, economics, and education.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Nimit Soonsan appreciated UPM’s openness in strengthening the university’s internationalisation efforts and hoped that this meeting would serve as a starting point for more collaborations between the two institutions in the future.
