SERDANG, 19 June – In conjunction with the Eid Al Adha celebration, PUTRA International Centre (i-PUTRA), UPM, in collaboration with EZ Qurban Sdn. Bhd., IKIM, and al rajhi bank Malaysia have organised a Mega Qurban @ i-PUTRA 2024 programme. This programme was the second Qurban event done by i-PUTRA, and this year, it successfully distributed fresh sacrificial meat to UPM international students, UPM staff, and underprivileged families in Serdang communities.

The event commenced at 9:30 a.m. with opening remarks by the Vice-Chancellor of UPM, Dato’ Professor Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah. In his speech, Dato’ Profesor Dr. Ahmad said, “This program aims to foster a strong relationship between the international students of UPM and the UPM community.” This program also allows international students to experience Eid Al Adha in Malaysia. In addition, this programme also involves the Responsibility Centre (PTJ) under the entity of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic and International (TNCAA), which are the Division of Admission and Division of Academic Governance, School of Graduate Studies, and Centre for the Advancement of Language Competence.

The Director of PUTRA International Centre (i-PUTRA), Professor Dr. Alyani Ismail noted that the programme ran smoothly. “This programme also helps the asnaf among UPM students to enjoy the sacrificial meat, and it directly has a positive impact on the entire community involved.” The programme concluded at 4:00 p.m. and saw the distribution of 51 cattle, with 3,500 kilograms of fresh sacrificial meat being distributed.
