Putra Global Upskilling Talent Programme: UIN-UPM Collaboration

The Putra Global Upskilling Talent Programme commenced on 23rd September 2024 with the arrival of a delegation of ten staff members from Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The participants, representing various professional fields, participated in a 10-day programme to enhance their executive capabilities by immersing them in Universiti Putra Malaysia’s (UPM) administrative and operational environment.

The programme seeks to strengthen the professional competencies of UIN staff by offering exposure to UPM's executive practices. Participants are assigned to various UPM departments based on their areas of expertise. The core modules of the programme include human resource management, audit procedures, asset management, student affairs, and academic governance.

In addition to the professional development activities, participants gained a deeper appreciation of Malaysian culture through organised visits to key tourist destinations. One highlight of this cultural exchange is a one-day excursion to the historical city of Malacca, which provided the participants with an opportunity to experience Malaysia's rich cultural heritage.

Several distinguished UPM entities have been the backbone of the programme, lending their expertise and leadership to ensure its success. These entities, including PUTRA International Centre (i-PUTRA)Sultan Abdul Samad Library (IPSAS), the Centre for Quality Assurance (CQA), the Division of Admission and Academic Governance (BAKD), Centre For Management Of Waqf, Zakat And Endowment (WAZAN), Student Affairs Division (BHEP), Alumni Relations Centre (ARCUPM), Registrar’s Office, Development Office and Asset Management (PPPA), Auxiliary Police & Security Center (APSeC), School of Business and Economics (SPE), Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Educational Studies (FPP), Chancellor College, and the Tenth College, have played instrumental roles in the programme's success.

These entities' involvement has played pivotal roles in providing strategic guidance and fostering a comprehensive learning environment for the participants. Each esteemed department has contributed to the participant's professional development, ensuring a well-rounded and enriching experience across their respective fields.

The Putra Global Upskilling Talent Programme is a testament to UPM’s commitment to fostering international collaboration and promoting global knowledge exchange. By empowering UIN staff with valuable insights and experience, the programme underscores UPM’s dedication to supporting capacity-building initiatives in higher education. As the programme concludes, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the UIN delegation for choosing UPM as their destination for the Global Upskilling programme. Their participation has been invaluable, and we look forward to continuing this vital initiative to ensure such impactful programmes thrive in the future.
