Simfoni Mekar, the choir team of PUTRA International Centre (i-PUTRA), showed how passion and dedication can blend into harmony that leaves a lasting impression. The team secured 5th place out of 23 groups at the UPM Semarak Merdeka Inter-PTJ Choir Competition 2025, an achievement that highlighted both their musical talent and their strong teamwork.

Their performance featured a captivating reinterpretation of “Standing in the Eyes of the World,” first performed by Malaysia’s Rock Queen, Ella. Celebrated for its themes of sacrifice, perseverance, passion, hope, and dreams, the song remains a symbol of determination and national pride. With their own arrangement, Simfoni Mekar brought the piece fresh energy, weaving the voices of soprano, alto, tenor, and bass into a dynamic and moving performance. Their rendition paid tribute to a timeless Malaysian classic while carrying the name of i-PUTRA with pride, stirring the Merdeka spirit across the UPM community.

Behind the success was the steadfast guidance of choir coach Mr. Muhammad Azim Khairul Amir, assisted by Mr. Muhammad Syafiq Farhan Boo Omar Boo, whose attention to detail helped bring out the best in every singer. The performance was further shaped by the direction of conductor Mrs. Farah Wahida Amran, whose energy and precision kept the choir in perfect synchrony. With a lineup of 19 committed i-PUTRA staff lending their voices, the choir embodied unity and determination, showing that talent flourishes when passion is matched with teamwork.

For i-PUTRA, this recognition is not only a competition result but also a reflection of how music can connect people, strengthen bonds, and uniquely celebrate national pride. What began as a team of staff stepping outside their everyday roles became a performance that carried meaning far beyond the stage.
