Sustaining EKSA with Purpose and Participation at i-PUTRA

Public Sector Conducive Ecosystem, or Ekosistem Kondusif Sektor Awam (EKSA), goes beyond the physical aspects of the 5S methodology—Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, and Sustain. It incorporates elements of corporate image blending it with creativity, innovation, and green practices to foster a workplace that is not only organised but also productive and forward-thinking.

To support and evaluate this initiative, the PUTRA International Centre (i-PUTRA) conducted the first Internal Audit on May 16, 2025, led by Mr. Muhammad Hadry, Administrative Assistant from the Mobility Section, and Ms. Nur Iqra, Executive Officer from the Visa and Pass Section. It provided valuable insights and reinforced the importance of maintaining a clean and efficient workplace, motivating i-PUTRA staff to consistently uphold EKSA standards.

In i-PUTRA’s efforts to strengthen EKSA practices and promote deeper understanding, a sharing session on the Administrative Management of Responsibility Centres was held. The session was delivered by Mrs. Norhasliza Hassan, Deputy Registrar from the School of Graduate Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and focused on strategies to improve the star rating and enhance the administrative standards in line with EKSA implementation.

Through consistent preparation, including weekly Gotong-Royong (GORO) sessions every Friday to maintain the neatness and professionalism of the centre, i-PUTRA also welcomed visitors as part of benchmarking activities under the EKSA initiative. These benchmarking visits created opportunities for exchanging insights on workplace organisation, efficient office systems, and the cultivation of a professional, welcoming environment.

i-PUTRA was honoured to receive several distinguished guests, including Professor Dr. Ramlee bin Kamarudin, Director of the International Office from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), representatives from the Institute for Mathematical Research (Institut Penyelidikan Matematik, INSPEM), and the Centre for Corporate Strategy and Relations (Pusat Strategi dan Perhubungan Korporat, PSPK) of UPM. Such engagements contribute meaningfully to the continuous improvement of EKSA practices within UPM and across other institutions.

These collective efforts reflect i-PUTRA’s commitment to cultivating a culture of excellence through innovation, collaboration, and a conducive work environment, allowing staff members to thrive and remain engaged in delivering quality service.
