​JERUDONG, BRUNEI – Putra International Centre (i-PUTRA), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), recently concluded a successful mission to Brunei Darussalam from 5 to 9 February 2026. This mission, held alongside the 11th Higher Education Expo 2026 at BRIDEX, focused on expanding UPM’s international reach through several key meetings.

​Key Meeting with the Minister of Education

​🔹 The highlight of the mission was a networking session between the Director of i-PUTRA, Prof. Alyani Ismail and The Honourable Datin Seri Setia Dr. Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Minister of Education of Brunei Darussalam. This meeting allowed UPM to align its goals with Brunei’s educational direction, focusing on student development and academic excellence within the region.

​Expanding International Partnerships

​🔹 In addition to the ministerial meeting, the i-PUTRA delegation held further discussions to grow UPM's global network:
​Collaboration with Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD): A meeting with Dr. Joyce Teo, Assistant Vice Chancellor and Vice President (Global Engagement), UBD, focused on increasing student and staff exchange programmes and building a stronger framework for future cooperation.

​​🔹 Engagement with the Swiss Embassy: The delegation also met with representatives from the Embassy of Switzerland to explore potential partnerships in research and talent development.

​Promoting UPM at BRIDEX

​🔹 UPM’s participation in the 11th Higher Education Expo 2026 helped reinforce the university’s reputation as a top choice for international students. By highlighting its wide range of academic and executive programmes, i-PUTRA continues to attract global talent and strengthen UPM’s international standing.
