UPM Welcomes Kyutech Delegates at SAES 2025 Welcoming Dinner

Serdang, 10 November 2025 — Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) hosted the Welcoming Dinner for the International Symposium on Applied Engineering and Science (SAES) 2025 at L’apprenti, bringing together delegates from Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech), Japan, in an evening of collegial exchange and goodwill.

SAES 2025 marks the 13th edition of the long-standing international symposium, jointly organised by PUTRA International Centre (i-PUTRA), the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and Kyutech. Held over two days at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the symposium carries the theme “Planetary Health for a Sustainable Future”, which signifies a shared commitment to advancing applied engineering and scientific research that supports global health and sustainability.

The welcoming dinner complemented the daytime academic programme, providing a more informal setting for delegates to connect beyond the conference hall. The evening was graced by UPM Vice-Chancellor Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Professor Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah and The Honourable Professor Dr. Yasunori Mitani, President of Kyutech, reflecting the strong institutional partnership between both universities.

Earlier in the day, SAES 2025 officially commenced with an opening ceremony and welcoming addresses by Professor Dr. Yasunori Mitani, Mr. Nihei Daisuke, Minister at the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia, and Dato’ Professor Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah. The programme also featured a signing ceremony between UPM and Kyutech, reaffirming both institutions’ commitment to sustained academic collaboration and research exchange.

As part of the symposium activities, delegates were taken on a visit to the Rehabilitation Clinic at Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (HSAAS), where they were introduced to advanced healthcare facilities that align closely with the symposium’s focus on planetary health and future sustainability.

The welcoming dinner programme included an opening address by the Vice-Chancellor, followed by a networking session that encouraged meaningful interaction among participants from UPM and Kyutech. The evening concluded on a warm note with a singing performance by Mr. Muhammad Azim Khairul Amir, adding a cultural touch to the gathering.

By bringing together scholars, researchers and institutional leaders from around the world, SAES 2025 continues to serve as a vital platform for dialogue, collaboration and innovation in applied engineering and science, all in pursuit of a healthier and more sustainable future.
