Application Procedure

  1. APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Applicants who will be going for their outbound mobility program are required to get approval to study abroad from the Putra International Centre before their departure. Applicants are required to submit the following forms and relevant documents at least 3 months before the program commencement.

Once student received the offer letter, they should complete the Outbound Application Form (digitally) as well as prepare the required supporting documents stated in checklist. They may submit the Outbound Application Form to i-PUTRA through Google Form Link.

 

The application will be brought to the Mobility Committee Meeting, chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) and joined by representatives from other respective entities in UPM. The meeting will be held once a month, according to the availability of the mobility committee members.

 

 

  1. OUTBOUND MOBILITY PROGRAM INCENTIVE

 

The Outbound Mobility Program Incentive is an incentive introduced by i-PUTRA for UPM students who will be joining any outbound mobility program during their study period in UPM. Beginning May 2025, the financial aid from i-PUTRA had been distribute to the respective entities (Faculty, Institute and Student Affairs Division) in UPM according to their Key Performance Indicator (KPI) in phases.

 

UPM students who satisfy the eligibility requirement may apply and the eligibility requirement can be found below.

Short Term

·         Minimum 3 days – 3 months;

·         The programme may be conducted in a hybrid mode (a combination of physical and virtual);

·         Outbound programmes are not limited to being conducted solely at universities;

·         Types of programmes include summer schools, conferences, visits, research attachments, industrial training, and workshops.

  • Minimum 1 day (4 hours) – 3 months;
  • The outbound programme attended must be conducted at a foreign university;
  • Types of programmes include summer/winter schools, workshops, and cultural programmes.
  • Minimum CGPA 2.75;
  • The student is currently active status;
  • The student must have completed the first semester and not in the final semester;
  • The student never received incentives from iPUTRA previously in same level of programme study.

Notes:

Long Term

  • Duration of 4–12 months;
  • The programme must be conducted at a foreign university/institute;
  • Semester exchange, industrial training, research attachment.

Notes:

Inbound International Mobility Initiative (IIMI)

·         Minimum number of students based on the suitability of the programme;

·         Minimum programme duration is 1 day (8 hours)

·         Minimum number of students based on the suitability of the programme;

·         Minimum programme duration is 4 hours

·         The student is currently active status;

·         Financial approval is subject to the PTJ.

 

 

*For postgraduate students going for research attachment / Exchange Semester (Minimum 1 month, max., 3 months) or International Presentation (3–5 days, depending on presentation duration), please apply under the mobility scheme provided by the School of Graduate Studies

 

Disclaimer:

  • The selection criteria listed also apply to international students.
  • Students may apply financial aid through respective entities. However, the approval is subject to entities based on the eligibility criteria, program duration, program mode (physical/hybrid), program category (short-term/long-term), the location of the foreign institution/organiser and current status of financial aid.
  • Local postgraduate students who will be undertaking their research attachment abroad may instead apply for the financial aid offered by the School of Graduate Studies (SGS). For more information regarding the financial aid for postgraduates, the information can be accessed here
  • Applicants may also join a mobility program that offers scholarships to applicants. The list of scholarship opportunities can be found here

 

 

  1. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • The Outbound Application Form needs to be submitted to i-PUTRA through Google Form Link by 15th of every month for it to be processed and be brought to the Mobility Committee Meeting. Any applications that are submitted at a later date will be brought to the next scheduled meeting.
  • Incomplete application forms will not be processed. Please ensure the forms and the supporting documents are prepared accordingly according to the checklist.
  • For postgraduate students (PG) who are not eligible to apply through the School of Graduate Studies (SGS), the financial assistance applications may be submitted through the respective entities, subject to terms and conditions.
  • The financial aid from i-PUTRA were limited and approval is subject to the decision made by the Mobility Committee Meeting. More information on this matter can be found in the Outbound Mobility Guidebook.
