PLACES TO VISIT AROUND UPM PART ONE

College can be exciting especially when you know the place in the back of your hand. University Putra Malaysia is in the middle between Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. Student have the advantage of using public transport either by LRT, MRT, KTM or buses. The only student need is an Touch n Go with minimum of RM20.

The Farm in the city is located in Sri Kembangan, Selangor. It is a zoo that allow its visitors to pet and take picture. The entrance fee is RM58 for non-locals and RM39 for local. For student that have iKad, they may need to show the iKad to get a discounted price tickets. Mind you, the zoo is quite hot during the day. Peak hours are between 11AM to 2PM. There are a lot of tame animals that a person could not think of such as python, tortoise, and peacock. Not only petting, one could bring family especially with kids to the Farm in the City.

 

Putrajaya Putra Mosque

The Putra Mosque is the principal mosque of Putrajaya, Malaysia. The construction of the mosque began when Putrajaya was first constructed in 1997 and complete two years later.  It is located next to Perdana Putra, which houses the Malaysian Prime Minister's office and man-made Putrajaya Lake. The pink-domed Putra Mosque is constructed with rose-tinted granite and consists of three main functional areas – the prayer hall, the Sahn, or courtyard, and various learning facilities and function rooms.  During Islamic festives such as Ramadhan, Eid ul Fitri, and Eid ul Adha, the mosque hosted many event such as reciting Quran and Sunnat prayers for the Muslims. Around the mosque area, there are shops, restaurants, Putrajaya Cruise and many of attractive Instagram background the one could take picture from. There are no entrance fee and it is one place for hanging out with friend during the night.

 

Taman Botani Putrajaya

Taman Botani Putrajaya is the biggest botanical garden in Malaysia that is located next to Putra Mosque. It is haven for nature lovers, runners, cyclist and serve a perfect picnic spot. There are facilities such as restroom, restaurants and parking spot for visitors. The garden features five different landmarks such as Explorer’s Trail, Floral Garden, Sun Garden, Palm Hill and the Lakeside that serve as the main points of attraction and point of taking pictures. The entrance is free with breathtaking views facing the lake. There are payable buggy ride RM5 for local and RM7 for non-local citizen.
